Albums You're Not Digging

fuckin thing sucks

What have you heard? If there is one thing I will stand by is that Bowie has something for almost everyone. There is a reason he is the chameleon. He has covered so many styles that I think I have lost track of some.

i can't say i disliked it because i wanted to be even more of a hipster...like i mentioned i really tried to get into it. i can see how people do like it and, as i said, one day i may get into it. i could see what they were trying to do artistically and musically, which is why i did give it a few listens before i set it aside. just right now it seems like too much work to appreciate when i have so much other stuff i feel like listening to.

Yeah, no doubt their earlier stuff would be better, I just started with the wrong one and haven't gotten around to checking out others. I like what I've heard of Archers of Loaf. Don't love, just like.

He's 11... aside from the Eminem thing, we're working on it... I have tried to foster a love of Devin Townsend in him, starting with the Ziltoid album and I've since moved on... it seems to be working, he pretty much every DT album i play to him, so good taste is gaining traction in his collection... I agree with you though, steady coaxing into better music can pay off!

Get around to it! Check out No Pocky For Kitty (lemme know where you find it) and definitely get a copy of 'Slack Mother****er'...

Fine.

Starting over.

I must say, I'm not too intrigued by these underwelming compositions but I have no qualms if you have a dissenting point of view, have a good day old chap.

Better?

Most people here are constantly listening to new music and I'm sure not everyone likes 100% of what they check out. What are some albums that you gave a chance and let you down? What's on the way out of your hard drive? What didn't you like about it and what led you to listen to it in the first place?

Boris + Ian Astbury = Major Misfire.

Big disappointment from Boris, one of my favorite banRAB. Astbury's Cult classics "Love" and "Electric" are fantastic recorRAB, but here is sound washed up as he warbles over a lack-luster Boris.

In the top of my cupboard is my stash of CRAB that I dont want out here with the rest of them, most of them are from my teens or when I was a kid. One of them out today...

...and it's going right back again. I used to like Eminem when I was a teenager but today I had this on and found myself laughing on occasion. Not because it was funny but because I find some of his lyrics ridiculous.

I'm not necessarily an Eminem hater. I think he's a complete twat but I think he can write. However, even though there are a few tracks I quite like on this one I have to say this is not for me at all. I know this album has a little following here and of course, each to their own but I just find this childish now.

How are those unrelated?

I think I like De-loused the best.

Loused > Bedlam > Frances > Amputechture > Octahedron

I don't know, but there are clear jumps between Relationship of Command, De-Loused, and Bedlam.

Whats wrong with his guitar playing? I wouldn't put it past a Proghead to miss the point and ethos of folk music.

I think if you're going to throw stones at lyrical subject matter, you ought not to stand in the thin glass house across the street.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.

Unless you're being told this by a goblin or some form of wood nymph, its neither poignant nor deep.

I hated that album at first....but after about 20 listens I really enjoyed it. Siberian Breaks is by far my favorite MGMT song now.

LP by Discovery

The single "Swing Tree" sounded so promising, but the album......is the complete opposite, there's maybe one other decent song on there, the rest have annoying beats that are impossible to sit through without skipping. Sigh. But what can yoi expect from a band that's half Vampire Weekend, half Ra Ra Riot.

Well both of mine don't like metal much at all and I have given up on that but in all seriousness, all I want them to have is an open mind towarRAB music whatever they listen to and seek out music irrespective of it's popularity and instead listen and love and that's what happened with my eldest which does make me proud.

I was playing a DJ Shadow track recently and he was so chuffed because he loves that track (Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt) but didn't know what it was called or who the artist was. Cool points for me :)

Off topic-apologies.

David Bowie - Young Americans

This is just fucking terrible for the most part. An exception being 'Fame', which is alright. The goddamn saxophone and backing chick vocals completely murder nearly every song, which were already just decent at best. And this wasn't my first time with the album, it seems to hurt my ears more each time.
