Albums You Love by Bands You Hate

Homework is brilliant, IMO their best album. Personally I think Discovery is their weakest.

Have you ever listened to Alive 2007? It's tremendous.

This coming from someone who's not into any other electronic or techno music whatsoever.

i strongly dislike Black Flag but fuck me if Damaged isn't awesome for its age. everything else they put out i pretty much hate though, they really went to turRAB after Rollins arrived. and they were still playing the same garbage music while everyone else from the SST label moved onto better things.

Daft Punk are overrated. I liked Homework (though definitely repetitive, it helped get me into dance music) but when the song 'One More Time' from their 2nd album came out it was enough for me stop listening to them. Seriously, that song is absolutely terrible.

Though it's fair to say that even though I listen to a shit-ton of electronic music, party music generally doesn't do it for me. Even during my house & clubbing days, I liked some party-ish music, but Daft Punk just seems so mainstream to me...to lowest common denominator, the stuff everybody likes. The kind of people that say "yeah I listen to everything". I respect them more than some other mainstream electronic acts, but that doesn't mean they're not overrated.

Damn, I knew I had an unpopular music opinion. You nailed it. For a while I thought I was the only person who was kind of blah about Daft Punk.

Placebo-Placebo
Everything after this is dreadful but this album suggested a vast amount of potential.

I'm a little bit surprised you don't like "Without You I'm Nothing"...it's not a horribly drastic change from this one. The s/t is what got them a ton of Smashing Pumpkins rip off criticisms.

The Killers - Hot Fuss

The bass line to 'Jenny Was a Friend of Mine' is simple bliss. 'Andy You're a Star' and most of the singles are groovy too...
