Albums You Hate By Bands You Love

Is that a joke?

Are they really using him? I actually didn't mind Magnification too much, and despite what I've just been saying Yes is a band I can't help but follow despite how depraved their music gets. But really now...that guy? I might pass.

Radiohead 'In Rainbows' - So lifeless, so boringly assured of its own merit, everything about it sounRAB "fine" in a sort of stock-taking sense but I get absolutely nothing from it and the mass critical praise it receives leaves me scratching my head.

Pavement 'Brighten The Corners' - The last LP of theirs I got around to, for no good reason. Quite unexpectedly, it is terrible, just a sort of abstract pop mess. A lot of people cite it as their favourite Pavement LP, which staggers me.

Public Enemy 'There's A Poison Goin' On' - Man, this is bad. Just a horrible industrial rap mess. First LP without Terminator X and shows how big a part of PE he was. So poor I haven't dare listen to anything they've done since.

dEUS 'Vantage Point' - Not just their first less than great LP but a genuine stinker. Utterly bland, lyrically trite, I don't expect to ever play it again.

I thought it was better than the bulk of With Teeth.

-Weezer- Make Believe...dear god that was garbage.

-Bob Dylan- Street Legal...I may not have listened to it enough, but I really couldn't get into it. Note that I have not heard a lot of the stuff considered his worst.

- Coldplay- X&Y...I'm not one of those people who think they are amazing, but I enjoy most of their stuff even if it is cheesy. This album had very few likable tracks and just seemed too safe even by their standarRAB.

- Conor Oberst- Outer South...I couldn't even listen to the whole thing.

- The Cure- Wild Mood Swings...I may play it again and try to find something to like about it.

- Michael Jackson- Invincible...had a few decent songs, but he tried way too hard to appeal to the tastes of early '00s pop radio.

- The New Pornographers- Challengers...Some really good songs, but most of it was pretty meh. It didn't hit me like their previous albums did.

- Pink Floyd- A Momentary Lapse of Reason...eh.

- The Strokes- First Impressions of Earth...It contains some of the best and worst songs of their career so far. They sort of burned out rather quickly, but I still love their first two albums.

- Wilco- Sky Blue Sky...I may need to try it again. Not a lot stood out to me, but it's been well over a year since I've heard it.

They are one of my favorite banRAB, so I of course recommend you check them out further. Their debut is one of their weakest albums. Check out Moving Pictures...that's the one people usually start with. That album is also the point where they kind of get rid of most of what made them prog in the late 70's.

Just 3 from me.

I'm a small U2 fan, and believe they have their moments, but seriously, "How To Dismantle an Atmoic Borab" . . . . good lord. It was a huge step backwarRAB for them. Have a look at a review I read. I think it's true as true can be: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=11worst

And the other huge disappointment to me was "By The Way" from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. No specific complaint here, I just thought it was crappy.

And last, but not least, "Riot Act" By Pearl Jam. They can do so much better. No further comment.

... Pleez.

I generally ignore sales and normally go based on critical reception. Naturally 90125 was more popular at time of release, but with the exception of Owner of a Lonely heart the rest of the album is rather forgotten by now.

Oh no I quite enjoy Interpol, but Antics has one good song and a bunch of filler. Bright Lights was ace and Our Love to Admire was pretty good but Antics was Sh*t IMO.

Storytelling-Belle & Sebastian
Godawful mess to put it mildly.

Pop-U2
Impossible to take them seriously anymore after this fiasco.

The Top-The Cure
Especially considering how good the albums before and after it were.

Head Music-Suede
The moment they finally lapsed into self-parody. Coming Up was listenable on it's own terms but this was just awful.
5.
Yes-Pet Shop Boys
The glory days of Actually and Behaviour never seemed quite so far away.

Honorary mention to Masters Of The Universe-Depeche Mode,Sky Blue Sky-Wilco and Around The Sun-REM.

i would have to say:
1.Green Day's cover album..that sucked!
and I guess, Nirvana's Muddy Banks of the whishka
I'm sure if I try really hard, I can think of more.....

Huh.

I'm not a huge Who fan (I think they're overrated), but I can nominally enjoy Quadrophenia and The Who Sell Out. I absolutely hate Endless Wire, though; they should have stopped making albums after Moon died.
