i have a '93 Ford Explorer and the air intake/ vacuum (im not sure) is messed up.. its the thing with the vacuum hoses attached to it and it is located at the top rear of the engine... all the holes are covered with vacuum hoses except one... the front one. when i turn on the engine, the vacuum (loudly) sucks air into the front hole and i can feel it when i touch it. so i covered it with a plug and it runs/ sounds fine. but the only other noticable difference is that with the cap off there is far more exhaust coming out the tail pipe. what should i do?? is it better to have more exhaust or less?? what could happen?
i have no idea where a hose would go from the tree.. the hose is missing..

If the hose is long enough, then cut an inch off & clamp it back on the tree. If not, then buy a length of VACUUM hose & replace it.
