Also called Air Management System. I own an 1982 Chevy S10 2WD with a 2.8L V6 on a 4 speed manual (Federal Emissions). I have had the truck for about two years now and I have been fixing it up and restoring it. The vacuum lines where mostly not hooked up til I got it. Anyways to my question...
Any mechanic out there or someone with the smarts of the old S10s tell me the routing of the vacuum lines on the AIR system? The original radiator fan shroud I could tell has been replaced so I do not have the original Emissions Label. And the vacuum diagrams I find for my year truck are just a generalization and seems to not even picture the 2.8L equipped with the AIR system.
From looking at it though I'm down to two vacuum ports needing hooked up. The one on the bottom of the Diverter Valve which from what I'm reading is a check valve. Not sure where it connects to.
And on top of the Diverter Valve closest to the block has a small vacuum tit that sticks straight up towards the hood that seems to be forcing air. Again not sure where that one hooks up to either.
Also if it helps the carb is a 2BBL Rochester Varajet II 2SE.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated... after two years and finally close to getting all the mess ups fixed!
Also can someone tell me what the heck the idle speed solenoid does? I'm on the impression that it keeps the idle from dropping to low when cold and under load when warm.
Thanks!
