I have a york air handler and presumably the rest is york. Gas heat with a separate AC. The outside compressor will be running and the inside fan will shut it self off leaving the compressor running outside. I hear a bang repeatedly and the fan will come on for a few seconds then turn it self back off. If I turn the unit off (maybe 15 min) and let it sit I can turn it back on and it will work for a while but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it starts turning itself off again. Now the fan turns itself on and off when I switch the fan from auto to on as well. I had the fan motor replaced last week and it made the banging sound less pronounced but did not fix the problem. I'm thinking either a solenoid or something wrong with the thermostat but I don't really know much about either.
Air conditioning fan turns it self on and off randomly?
