AIM messages count as Text Messages? TMobile

So I just got my first bill from TMobile today, and it is showing AOL IM's coming through as text messages and doing a $0.05/charge for each IM? Does anyone else have TMobile and use AIM on your BB? I would assume that since it is a seperate program that is used over the data network, that it wouldn't have a per message charge on those? With my Sprint plan they never charged a per message fee on AIM's. Text messages was a different story though, those obviously will have a per message charge, but AIM's?

All the messenger which comes preinstalled wiil charge per message for T-Mobile. Incoming and outgoing both is charged. I have already tried yahoo.

On the Tmobile website under the 7105t description it has a little * by the Ims that say additional fees may apply.
I never pay a lot of attention to my bill as my plan includes all the SMSs and emails and internet I want.

The BB Minutes and Mail, or something like that comes with internet, email, and SMS, all that I want, and no extra fee for the text. I would recommend it to anyone. With the discount I get from work it is less than what I paid for my Sidekick.

Actually, for me, Unlimited SK data (no minutes) and unlimited messaging were about the same as what I pay for Unlimited BB data and unlimited messaging (no minutes).

Gay Gay Gay Gay...
That is so gay that they are charged as text messages.
This is the dumbest thing I have heard of in a while.
I think we need to take this up with TMobile.
In fact, I am off tomorrow and I am going to take it up with them.
How retarded is that?
Sorry, but I just needed to rant.
Oh well, just looks like where one carrier is better, someone else sucks.
Typical of this economy.
I am going to play the lottery and when I when start my own cell service/data service/cell phone company.
Anyone else in?

I have no need to raise issues with them concerning overages because all my data is unlimited supplemented by unlimited messaging. After a $900 bill from texts alone, I called them and asked if they were ever gonna offer unlimited messaging and I was one of the first customers who got it. This was when I had my 7730.

Its all a matter of how the application sends the messages, if its a text, its a text. Thier system can not tell the difference in a AIM text vs a regular text. That is why some on the downloadable IMs charge $$$$ as they do not count as text messages.

Hmmmm.....odd. You are referring to the AIM service within the T-Zones icon? I used it a few times (I found it kinda buggy, long story) and was never charged any fees. I have the Tmo unlimited data plan for BB

T-Mobile's AIM program uses SMS messaging to send and receive through the built in chat program. $.05 per message is the standard rate unless you have unlimited SMS messaging as part of your plan.

Even with an unlimited Data or BB plan you will still get hit for SMS charges. A good work around is Ramble, IM+, or any of the other chat prgrams available. Ramble is free and works pretty well. It's a true real-time chat program for AIM and does not use SMS to transfer info.
