AIM FOR TMOBILE G1 PROBLEM?!?

So I have a TMobile g1. & When I signed on, I checked my buddy list & everyone of my friends were offline. But they're not all offline. & When I signed on AIM on my laptop to double check, they were online. So on my G1, why does it have all my friends offline so I can't talk to them? Help? Thanks
