Agendus Functionality/External Apps

I have been using Agendus so long I'm ignoring the "1st rule" of CHECK THE MANUAL and simply posting here instead.

The zip file for Agendus Pro comes with an "inner zip" of MakeSpot and a Photo application.

MakeSpot is somewhat "included" in Agendus Pro and I use it to color in month view days. INCREDIBLY handy and powerful; makes a little database called "MakeSport Data."

However, I haven't installed "Makespot" itself NOR the photo application. Can anyone tell me what advantage you'd have by installing the full MakeSpot app? What about the Photo app? Does that make the thumbnails of contact photos smaller (right now it's using 62k of RAM to connect 1 thumb of a phto on the CARD and that seems incredibly wasteful).

If anyone's got experience with these, please advise. Thanks!

The principle reason for installing MakeSpot is to set or modify the color selection that's available in Agendus. Your allowed 7 colors and these can be set in MakeSpot and then Agendus will reflect the changes that you've selected provided you save the set.

Also, you can select multiple days easier in MakeSpot that will show up in Agendus. These multiple days can either be individually selected or you can also have MakeSpot do Holidays in a global mode.

To the best of my knowledge the Photo app is strictly their for conversion of "off" types so that you can use it in Agendus for wallpaper. But I haven't installed it.

MakeSpot is on my Treo though.

EDIT: Paul - don't bother looking for the MakeSpot instructions in the Agendus manual.....their is not an English Manual for MakeSpot. It's pretty simple to figure out so you won't have any problem. :D

Loaded MakeSpot, changed default month-day colors of Agendus Pro 8.04, and promptly got 5 crashes (logged as "Agendus," though that may not be whole story).

The crashes occurred when using EITHER the right top corner "arrows" or the D-Pad to move months forward to Feburary 2005 (I was coloring in holidays manually). I removed MakeSpot from Flash, deleted it and then got ONE MORE crash ("Pinlet" or whatever that is).

After that -- fine. No crashes. I've decided, sadly, to use the default Agendus month-day coloring (not very much choice and boring) but believe the problems is with MakeSpot changing Agendus default colors on the T3. Perhaps a conflict with "Iambic Data," I think which is shown as "ANData" on a file manager.

Or, you're supposed to EXIT the application before adding more holidays -- I checked that, but the app crashed on EXITING Agendus as well. Funny.

One more reason why perhaps MooseMan made the right choice with a Treo - the quirky T3 rears its ugly head again!!

At the risk of "double posting," I'll probably assign this to a new thread "announcement:"

There is a new freeware app that detects duplicate alarms at hotsync or time change and eliminates them - you simply name your DEFAULT calendar app (Clie, Agendus, etc) and that it!!

Address at Freeware Palm:
http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/1xalarm.shtml

This may help some of you having "alarm issues," although I don't use them at all and have no first hand experience. In my view, an alarm WILL go off at the worst possible time - pocket, briefcase, holster, purse, meeting, restaurant, movie or date . . . I just don't use 'em. However loads of you DO, I'M SURE, so this may help!

Paul - noticed the PM as well this morning.

I must say that on the Treo it's no issue. The T3 is now back but gathering dust. I'll fire it up and see, later today, if I can duplicate.

I've not seen any complaints on MakeSpot at the Iambic website so I'm wondering if it's a conflict.....unique or not.

Since my T3 has been hard reset and is clean of all potential corruption....let me do some testing and advise.

If I can figure out the glitch and use MakeSpot, that would indeed be great.

First thing I did was change the default colors in the "now" column; did not change the "pre" column -didn't understand that concept at all. Anyway, it was when I marked certain holidays as red, and loaded (then unloaded) MakeSpot's "holiday database" and deleted it that I got the crashes.

Perhaps I should use TealMover to DELETE the "MakeSpot Data" database FIRST (fresh start), then enter the "new stuff."

Just can't figure out why it would be the "advance one month" buttons or D-Pad advancement of the month that would cause the crash, and each time on FEBRUARY, for heaven's sake - occasionally crashing on exiting the program with the little "home" button at bottom left. Weird.

I'm off to Knott's Berry Farm with Katharine . . perhaps a good soaking on the log ride will make all the difference!! Remember . . . only wash out your camera's motor drive in FRESH WATER, never SALT, and open the back up every now and again to make sure the film's going through correctly . . . .

I've installed Agendus and Makespot...no issues? I'm no help buddy.

I'd have to say that either Agendus has a bug/icon issue or some other conflict may be the cause.

My suggestion would be that it might have to do with JackFlash or JackSprat but that's a WAG.

I'll be gone all this next week, till Friday, so you may have to lug through it without my aid, but I know the rest of the board will assist.

There is a conflict, easily resolved, between MakeSpot and Agendus Pro.

This conflict appears because Agendus SHADES Saturday and Sunday with 2 of 7 colors. I can't stand the weekend shading, so I use a pale yellow plain wallpaper in month view only, lending a yellow "cast" to the entire month. Colors I add then stand out.

If you change the 2 of the 7 "weekend shades" in Agendus to different colors using the MakeSpot app, it causes a "brain freeze" when shifting from month to month because Agendus is trying to make Saturday and Sunday the two "default colors."

The solution is . . . don't change those two (either the Pale Lavender or Light Blue) from the defaults. IT IS OKAY TO CHANGE ANY OR ALL OF THE OTHER FIVE COLOR OPTIONS. No crashes.

ALSO: DO NOT move MakeSpot (52k) into FLASH. Agendus runs GREAT in flash, just be sure to move ONLY the .prc into flash and NOT icons/databases. MakeSpot appears to be a Database Resource for Agendus, and moving to flash will also cause a crash. In fact, perform a soft reset when installing MakeSpot .prc; I even went so far as to delete MakeSpot's database and starting fresh with assigned colors. The conflict, then, should be resolved by A) not moving to flash the MakeSpot app, and leaving the 2 of 5 Agendus default colors alone. You won't get crashes forwarding through months either with the arrows top right or the D-Pad. I have had no more crashes since leaving them alone.
