Agalloch

The Mantle is one of the best Metal albums ever made and the texture and compositions poo poo all the naysayers that say Metal is one dimensional.

I have not gotten to hear mantle yet but I will soon. You really should hear their latest it would be well worth it. It is so beautiful. Thank you for responding.

Album of the year material right here folks. "Black Lake NiRABtag" is one of the most amazing tracks that I have heard this year.

You're spot on there. That's exactly why people think one ripped of the other which is bollocks - it's not as if they're the only two banRAB to alternate between quiet and loud sections.

I think their best release is actually Of Stone, Wind And Pillor simply for their cover of Kneel To The Cross. One of the few songs that gets me teary eyed every time I hear it.

From what I've heard so far, Marrow of the Spirit is shaping up to be a contender for album of the year. With great albums such as Disarabiguation and Axioma Ethica Odini coming out this autumn, 2010 is shaping up to be a great year for metal.

I'm just hoping Agalloch's upcoming release is as good, if not better than AATG. The Post-Rock tendencies in Ashes really made that album special to me.

New album was announced recently! They also have a DVD hopefully coming out and they have a collection of earlier songs that was just released. I am ****ting my pants for the new album!

BTW, does anyone have a link for their Promo 1998 and the Sol Invictus compilation album they were on Sol Lucet Omnibus? When I will have those I will finally have everything Agalloch has put out.

I'm surprised you haven't heard Agalloch since you seem to have a pretty wide/deep taste in music.

I'll see if I can up it later on today. The Mantle is probably my favourite followed by Pale Folklore... or maybe the other way around - it's hard to decide.

You fuckers have got me all excited about this album now and the above videos don't even work.
But I'm a patient man. Still, somebody please hit me with this whenever it's convenient.

Heard it but I have to disagree with some of you - I thought it was sorta terrible in comparison to Ashes Against the Grain which grabbed me right away. I think that one feels a lot more organic and atmospheric. The new one has a lot more generic metal riffing and structure, or at least a lot more of it. It felt like I had heard it all before. A clean metal sound with lots of predictable chord progressions, and buildups with resolutions that you can hear coming from miles away.

I'd have to re-listen to both albums to really back up my statements but I was pretty disappointed by this.
