After what gym is the earliest time to get a Lapris on Pokemon Heart Gold?

I want to have Lapris on my team, but I wanna know when i can get it so i can start forming my team... any idea after what gym u can get one?

(i don't need to know where, just WHEN)
 
I think you should get it right before the Elite Four because Lapras is pretty strong and you would need him to get past it. I got mines after the Elite Four because I forgot all about Lapras. ~_~
 
To catch lapras you need to beet Morty "the fourth gym", and use surf in union cave or the slopoke well in a certain spot. You will see lapras on the waters surface."only on fridays" Hope you catch it.
