after going #2, blood when wiping

i first saw this maybe 2 or 3 years ago and it did alarm me initially, but i decided to not bother worrying since it was a very small amount each time, sometimes to the point of being barely noticeable. i dont know specifically how often, but it became a pretty common thing.

After a while it became occasional, maybe even stopping altogether for many months. I guess it was something I just tried to ignore so I can't say exactly. but a few days ago it occured again and has been everyday since. The irritation and blood seem at least a little more, or maybe it's just in my head and i'm too concerned about it.

I've read that bright blood accompanied with irritation are just hemmorhoids, nothing serious. But it seems like maybe its happening too often, and i have no medical insurance to get a check up. i was hoping someone has been in the same situation, and I could get some advice about what i should do, maybe put some of my fears at ease?

also, I hope I did not post in the wrong board, I looked through the list and couldn't find something that would match my topic.

What it probably means is that you need a couple of things. More fluids for starters. And more fiber in your diet. You probabaly have an internal fissure that is being torn by your poos that are hard because you don't have enough moisture and fiber in them to keep them soft and supple - sounds like a commercial I know! But my hubby suffers from the same thing so I have already done this route.

You don't want the blood because eventually it can lead to more serious problems. So you need to increase fiber by adding something like fiber 1 and raisen bran to your daily diet along with fruits like apples and broccoli and carrots to your diet. Also add a high fiber bread and add 64 oz of water in addition to what you are already drinking. Eat a fiber 1 bar also. They are good too.

Try also adding Miralax to a glass of H2O. it is clear and doesn't taste but it will help with your poo and it will keep it soft and regular so that you won't have to worry about blood. it is OTC and you can get it at Costco or target or Walmart....

The secret is to get your poo soft enough that it will allow the fissure to heal so you don't irritate it so you bleed every time or every other time you poo. That means more fluid and more fiber.

Good luck!

thanks a lot for your response, i guess the saying goes you can never be 100% sure of anything, but as far as i can tell you are absolutely right. pretty much everything you said makes it kinda obvious why i had this problem and why its coming back now.

sometimes looking up symptoms and possible causes on the internet can get you kind of needlessly worried, so i'll just be sure to try the things you mentioned and i'm sure it will go away. thanks again! :)

Sorry to say this but worrying about rectal bleeding is never needless. It's probably harmless but should ALWAYS be checked by a doctor. No-one can diagnose you over the internet, not even a doctor.

This is a serious matter when you have blood in your stool. You should also inform your doctor about this issue. I wouldn't sweat it though. It could come from straining. If you're having trouble with your bowel, you should take some kind of laxatives. Eat fruits. Also, be sure to eat plenty of green and orange vegetables. To be on the safe side, just eat healthy and make sure you're having a normal bowel without straining. Hope this was helpful. Good Luck!
