I am on the end half of my fourth month with accutane. Thankfully I have had a very positive experience with it. Two things that really helped, in my case, were putting sunscreen on every day and drinking a lot of water.

Almost immediately after I go off accutane, I am going to be heading out to counsel at a summer camp in upstate New York. Is it still neccesary for me to apply the sunscreen every day? Is there anything else I can do to help get rid of the redness? Or will the redness just naturally go away?

For those of you who are afraid of accutane, there is really no reason to be, I was lucky in that the only thing I experienced (so far) is dry lips. It is worth 5 months of dry lips when it means a clear face for the rest of your life (hopefully).

hey congrats!!! i have finished almost 2 months ago and my redness has finally faded. The redness is due too irritation and i really dont think there much to do for it until it fades on its own. About 4 weeks off is when myredness completely faded. I dont believe in sunscreen, but i do believe in not getting sun burnt. I believe that if you prepare your skin by getting alil sun here and there its good but by all means use sun screeen to avoid getting burnt if you have too.

My derm told me to wear SPF 30 (I'm using Aveeno ultra calming with fever few) its my 3rd month off the medication and I have some scarring and redness on my checks. My question is what do I do to get rid of the redness. I wear sunlight sheer tint moisturizer so I feel more comfortable it reduce the visibility of the redness like make up does, but I hate it. My body is light golden toned and my face is redish/pinkish white. I want to get a tan, but I'm afraid too. The doctor said the sun can cause the scars to darken. What should I do. I'm thinking about lazer. My finish accutane July 31st 2009 and today is October 24, 2009.
