I live with Africans but I don't quite understand why they say that Caribbeans have no "culture", whereas, in my humble opinion, they have a very distinct and unique culture. A blending of disparate cultural influences that constitute its uniqueness and this goes for all Caribbean cultures. one of my roommates is from Senegal and belongs to the wolof ethno-tribal group. How can he affirm that he has culture and Caribbeans don't? What is so special about the 3000 different African cultures which allows "some" Africans to arrogantly declare that Caribbeans are devoid of Culture? Both groups have adopted foreign spiritual beliefs and practices i e islam, christianity, Catholicism etc. Both groups have their own music, customs, social practices, conjugal traditions, moral, cultural and spiritual values, cultural mythology, language, knowledge, things that are transmitted from one generation to the next. What do Africans mean by "culture"? Is it the simple fact of wearing dashikis, boubous, pagnes?. Is it the fact of consulting marabouts lol? OF course i'm being humorous but what are the defining characteristics of any given African culture? How is the Yoruba or Igbo culture superior to the Jamaican culture for example, because this is what we hear in the UK
