A week ago saturday i was at a and e as a injured my back and it went int spasm. ( moving heavy field mats!!!!) i have now had a week off work. doctor signed me off and said call her today if i needed to be signed off again. her advice was to keep moving. So all week i have been getting steadily better and moving (but there is only so much moving you can do when you back hurts) I stopped taking the dizapam as do not like what i have read about it. i am taing the strong pain killlers i was given at the hospital. i was planing to go back to work today but i spent 2 hours up the farm yesterday just walking around really in an advisory capacity with my family. and last night and today i am again in agony. just want to cry and have hubby at home soft i know. So i have been reading up on the net about it all and it just says keep active. try to carry on with work where pos.

Am I just being weak? I have been signed off for another week. but should i really just fight it and go to work. I have not driven since and still struggle getting in and out the car.

I am a primary school teacher with children with emotional and behaviour difficulties so i would be on my feet all day and moving around. advice please. am i soft or just beign daft?

You're not being soft - I know a lot of people try to 'suck it up and go on', but that's no good for your body. If you're in pain, that's your body telling you that something is wrong, and you need to rest. You are justified in what you're doing.

Rest up as much as you can - you'll get better faster with rest than you will by pushing yourself beyond your limits. You're hurting for a reason - take care of yourself!

Good luck!
