I have had severe acid reflux since last feb. tests for helicobactor pylori were negative. However i was on omeprazole at the time. would that have given a false reading? the omeprazole was effective for two months, then i was put on lanoprazole which was effective for three weeks before symptoms came back with a vengence. I was put on ranitidine. which wasn't effective at all, then pantroprazole which really didn't help much either. I'm waiting for further tests. Avoiding certain fooRAB, raising the top of the bed, in fact following all the rules does no good at all. It is at ita best in the morning, growing steadily worse as the day goes on, and almost unbearable by night. I have to take sleeping tasblets to sleep and doc reluctant to give me any more. I live in the UK. I will have to wait in a queue for tests on the NA. Should i go private? Anyone else got same ptoblems?
I was also speaking to a woman on holiday who was in and out of hospital for two years with such severe acid reflux. They kept telling her there was nothing wrong. then they looked at her heart. That was the problem all along. Since she has had a by-pass, her reflux has disappeared.
