Advice on sports/confidence/friends (all one story)?

During the end of the school year I started practicing basketball for about two months, preparing for high school because this is what i was suppose to do. May I add I suck at bball. There was a break for about three weeks, then it became summer and practice started. I couldn't go to the first week for reasons, then became the second. I didn't show up I felt I sucked at bball and there was no use and doing it anymore. So my dad email the coach and asked if I was good enough to be on the team. The coach replied saying if I committed and tried hard I would. I really want to do bball, but the thing is I am really nervous about going to practice a) I'm bad at meeting new people like the first two months I didn't meet anyone and everyone is better than me. b) its been two weeks and everyone is probably way ahead of me. c) I don't know much about bball. d) im really nervous about being around people i dont really know

what should I do? should I go or not? If i do go how do I handle situations A-D?
 
if you love the sport youll do anything to get better
even if you dont make the team its not over
continue to work hard
alone if you have to or with a friend
but you should go and do your best and just breath
