Advice on a small fish aquarium?

I am thinking about buying a small aquarium. I would really like to find a small tank (about 2.5 gallons) that's cheap and can be bought at a store that's...well... everywhere, like walmart or something. I want advice on a fish (or more) to buy that's fun to watch, low maintenance, and cheap. I'm on a very tight budget, and I can't do online things, only stores. Thanks so much for all the help, peeps.
