Okay so when I was 21 years old I got into a fight and was being charged with an assualt charge. We paid a lawyer 10,000 because that's what he asked for and he was reputable. I ended up with an SIS which means after completing probation and everything it would come off my record and never be seen again. So my lawyer had told me that any time on an application if it asks if I have a felony to put NO because its not on my record. We had even went back to court for the paperwork to be filed to get it off. So recently, I applied for an internship, and got denied because it came up. Every time I try to contact my lawyer he wants to charge $25 or he doesn't call you back. He says everything is fine. Well, its not fine! What do I do now? How do you turn in a horrible lawyer?

I suppose you could contact the local bar association and tell them about this attorney.

What he should have done is file for an expungement and then your charge wouldn't show up on your record and you could then answer "no" to the felony question on applications because all records of your charge would have been "erased" and there would be no record.

Perhaps your bar association might have some suggestions as to how you file for an expungemet.
