Advice for controlling paranoia about media and conspiracies?

OK, I don't think of myself as someone who believes everything she hears. But I have ALWAYS been a very curious person, and always have sought out different perspectives and ideas about everything from religion to politics to relationships to... well almost anything...

I don't consider this a bad thing. And for the most part, through my life, I have found this to be a helpful thing. But once in a while I got into these stages where all I do is read and read and look at all these ideas about the unknown, religion, conspiracies, etc... Sometimes it starts to really freak me out, but I can't stop looking because my mind is always coming up with another question so I keep looking and looking at this stuff.

To be honest, there are many things that I really don't know what I believe about... I was raised in a pretty orthodox Christian environment, so I really don't think telling me things I've already heard so many times will help. It won't make me feel settled.

I don't know if anyone can give any advice about this... but I am wondering if anyone has advice about how someone like me (who is very curious naturally) can help stay grounded and not mentally kinda freak out when I come across disturbing ideas or info...
