Hi, so I'm 15 and I've just started performing at local coffee houses and open mics around town in the past 6 months.
Here's my problem though, I only do covers. It's not that I don't write my own songs, it's just that they need a lot of improvement and I'm not confident enough to play them yet.
It wouldn't be a problem that I don't have any original work but at my last performance a women organizing a big city festival (featuring youth performers) asked me to play at it. I did some research on the other musicians and bands playing at it and most have original work they're playing.
I want to accept this opportunity but I'm afraid that maybe it isn't a good idea if I don't have original work I'd really like to put my absolute best face forward. PLUS I play acoustic music, much more coffee house appropriate, so I'm not sure if I'm suited for such a big audience, the biggest audience I've ever played for is 300.
please, please help! i just need a second opinion or some advice!
