Advice: Cricket PayGO on USB Modem

I need a CDMA USB modem for Snow Leopard to be used with data for only THREE days. Paying for a full month or $15 dollars a day from other places is pretty insane... SO.. here my question.

Cricket has modems for free after mail in rebate but I want to get it on to a prepaid PayGO instead of the $40 a month plan.

Is it possible to set up a PayGO phone and then switch the PRL/ESN to the modem in order to run just off of data?

creative, but not possible. doing an MEiD swap with a broadband modem onto a paygo acct will simply not work.

and while cricket modems exist on PayGo, you are required to purchase one month up front...there is no daily PayGo option available. the only difference between PayGo broadband (in big box stores) and regular broadband (in cricket retailers) is that PayGo broadband is funded by top-up carRAB available in Walmart, Best Buy, and RadioShack. big box retailers don't want to deal with products that require a rep to activate them...so cricket devised a grab & go version of broadband that simplifies the sale. the customer simply buys the modem and a top-up card, then goes home to activate the device themselves.

and regarding the modems that are free after mail-in-rebate (available only in cricket retailers), to qualify for MIRs, there is one very important guideline to follow. you must be active and in good standing (no late payment) for the first 45 days. even if you paid for your 1st month, you will be disqualified from the rebate if your acct goes into default status on the 31st day due to nonpayment.
