Advair dosage

I'm wondering what dosage of Advair most people are taking. I was taking 250mg twice daily, but my doctor has doubled my dose to 500mg twice daily because I have had a lingering cough since May. I am scared to start on it since I read the side effects on the paper that came with it and they are quite scary.
 
I have cough variant asthma.

I started off with Advair 100/50 in January 2002. After a year or so, I bumped to Advair 250/50. About 3 or 4 years ago, I went to Advair 500/50. I stayed there at that level until this past January. I'm now back down to 250/50 again.

I know Advair has a lot of warnings, but so far, I haven't noticed any side effects. Advair has been effective in helping me with my asthma.

I also take Singulair and have the Albuterol and an Epi-pen on hand as well (just in case...).

Now to get down to the 100/50. Maybe in another year.
