Adults: Did you go to camp as a child?

I'm only 21 but yes I went to all kinds of camps, almost every week of my summer was full. My favorites were the over night camps and equestrian camp. I went to gymnastics camps, horse camps, cheerleading camps, and all kinds of educational camps when I was younger! I loved them!

YES! And I loved it! I always went with a friend and my sister was (who is 2 years older) was usually at the same camp. I hope my daughter wants to go when she is old enough!

I spent the weekend at Girl Scout camp once, however, I really longed to go to camp much longer than that but it never happened. My boys are going on year three at camp though.

Back in NZ when I was just a kid, my parents would ship me off to a place called Kiwi Ranch during school holidays. It was great! A week of canoeing, horse riding, bush walking, and all that stuff :)

Sure did. Went to 4H Overnight Camp every summer between 3rd grade and 10th grade. My junior and senior years I was a camp counselor. I had so much fun at camp and hopefully my son will go and have just as much fun as I did!

I did, and I think (if you can afford it) it is great thing for kids.

- It exposes them to new things and people
- It gets them outdoors and away from the TV
- They might learn some useful skills
- It gives you (mom and dad) a little break

Sent my daughter to a couple, plan to send our sons when they are older.

I went to a WONDERFUL camp as a child in upstate New York, it is an island run by the girl scouts. I learned how to swim and sail and boat, and make friends, and keep my camp site clean, and clear tables, and mop floors for chores. We sang a lot of songs, and i still talk to some of the girls from there. Wouldn't have traded it for anything!!!

My first year at camp I was 2 months old. :) It was Family Camp. lol

I went to camp every single year till I was 25. After I married at 19 I dragged my hubby with me to be a cabin leader. He had never been but he loved it.

I was a camper till I was 16. Started to work as a dishwasher at camp when I was 12. Jr. cabin leader at 14 and then Cabin Leader at 16. Would spend the entire summer out there - never went home those months.

Now my kids go to camp and I have 3 that have worked out there for a few years. This year, due to "real" jobs, only one is working out there.
