ADSL and internet speed

I will be moving into a condo with ADSL, Bell Satellite for condo's in late May.

I want to have my TV and comp with hi-speed internet access in my bedroom. Will this affect my net speed having my bedroom at the very
end of the hall, quite a ways from the main outlet in our livingroom?

We will have TV's with BEV in every room (livingroom, parents bedroom and mine).

Is/ or has anyone been through this experience? Do you know what I should expect?
 
I am sure that by now you know that no HD is available on VDSL. The box is a Motorolla unit that feeds a max of 3 TV's from the single unit.

I am sure others would love to know your experiance with this service, as would I, please let us know how it all goes after you move in.
 
Raise your expectations by calling Rogers. Unlike the Bell offering, you are not stealing bandwidth from Peter to pay Paul. Also, you have option of HD with Rogers.

Since you have to fork out considerable $$$ to either provider for hardware (unlike new customer satellite deals), compare carefully before signing on the dotted line.
 
digiobsessed, has no Rogers option, as per his statements in another thread, he is stuck with Bev.
 
What a crock!!! I remember when Expressvu & SC were raising cain with the CRTC about Rogers and Videotron not allowing access to wiring in MDUs.

digiobsessed - I would be watching what your condo board does with a very wary eye. I would scrutinize every service contract that they sign in order to protect against the possibility of some very unpleasant surprises down the road. I've seen some "hidden" deals in the condo biz. As in how much are Condo board members paying for their Bell services?

We don't have HD TV's so that's not a concern. Since my parents have already ordered the receivers and equipment(minus the dish due to it being ADSL) they want to give EV a try. They're bent on it due to us using Sympatico internet, so getting a better deal financially viable for us,
is probably the main reason why they're deciding to go with BEV.

We're supposed to be having the epuipment installed in late May.

Believe it or not, I got two different answers from Rogers. Prior to ordering EV, I talked with a CSR from Rogers who told me they "couldn't have access to our new residence. So, from there, we went and ordered the BEV receivers.

My intuition told me to call Rogers again, as something just didn't seem right. The next guy I talk to says yes, our new residence is able to be set up for digital cable! What the hell happened there?!:eek: They only thing preventing Rogers from entering our building is our approval! Two diffrent answers for the same exact question! Too little, too late!:mad:

Talking with my folks, because of us already ordering the BEV combo with internet and phone, they don't want to change anything. We have until just after the 20th of May before they come and install BEV. My parents won't budge on the subject though.

My dad had told me "Just try Bell, and if we end up not liking the service, we'll just switch over to Rogers again".

I do know that now, yes. Sensual Poet helped me with some questions. Thanks, SP!:D I finally got a look at our new condo apt today. My bedroom, which I want both my TV with BEV and Sympatico hi-speed, will be right beside the main settop box in the livingroom, so luckily it won't be too far away. My
primary concern was my internet speed going at a slower pace. The furthest the TV in our livingroom will be about 17 feet max. That's if my parents decide to put the TV at the furthest end of the wall. It will be just through the wall adjoining my bedroom and a lot closer if they decide to do at the opposite end of the wall.

I am sure others would love to know your experiance with this service, as would I, please let us know how it all goes after you move in."

If everything goes according to what is currently planned, I'll definately let everyone know what it's like.
 
Long cable runs tend to slow down the bandwidth. Always use Rg-6 cables for high speed internet.

I don't know what the Bell installers plan to bring with them, when they come to install ADSL TV for condos on the 25th? Hopefully, they'll know to use Rg-6 cable for the HS modem in my room.

I'm just wondering about something. We haven't signed a contract with Bell yet. Could the installers bring it with them, on the installation date? Sensual Poet had said it's usually a one-two year contract. If we don't like it, can we still opt out of it(sympatico, EV and phone combo)?:confused:
 
I learned today my parents decided on keeping Rogers cable.
Sorry I can't let everyone know how this ADSL Bell TV for
condos works.

Hopefully, someone who does/ or will end up getting this service,
will keep everyone updated on the in's and out's of it.
