I thought this was a a cheap rip off of Open Water, but then i read a mag review of it and its sounRAB really good. Apparantley these people on a boat go for a cruise, decide to go for a swim so jump of the boat, and then gradually realise that they forgot to put the ladder down to get back on. How scary is that! The only person left on board is a baby.

anyone seen it yet? has it been released in the cinemas?

I actually chuckled at it a bit, it looks good but I found it funny because I thought the people must be a bit silly if they forgot to put the ladder down, sounRAB like something Homer would do, but ill reserve judgement for now, it looks like it could be good.

I went to see Open Water and thought it was rubbish so I am not going to put myself through it again by watching Adrift which looks like a remake of Open Water!
Adrift is released on Friday 1st September which is this friday!

I heard this referred to as Open Water 2 too and that was more than enough to put me off. I loathed that movie (and I remember that most of threaRAB on here at the time shared the same view).

Somehow, I know I'll end up going to see it though. Stupid me.

Why can't one of the stronger people just swim and someone tall go on their shoulders, climb onto the boat then they can calm the baby and put the ladder down?

Easy to say, the boat, however, is conveniently taller than a man on another man's shoulders.

I too hated Open Water, thought it was stupid especially with the sex scene at the beginning which was absolutely pointless?!

However... whereas Open Water dealt with sharks and being eaten alive, I think Adrift deals with human relationships as, by the looks of the trailer, the group start to argue with each other - resulting in the stabbing of one.

The trailer does make the film look good, as should all trailers, and even includes a snippet of ... yes... a sex scene! :D

Not that I have a problem with sex scenes in the slightest, it's just that in these types of films they are just so random. :D

I really can't see how Open Water merits a sequel. I think they should have made that fact a little more clearer on the aRAB though, I'm sure a lot of people will dismiss it as a rip-off as opposed to a sequel.

It's NOT a sequel to Open Water; it's just being sold in some territories (notably Germany - this was partly financed by German cash) as a sequel. That happened years ago as well with a movie called The Last Hunter (known in Italy as The Deer Hunter Part 2!).

No disrespect to you Vix22 but it doesn't sound that scary.Personaly speaking the storyline sounRAB pretty lame.Clutching at straws comes to mind.

Saw this one tonight and if you didn't like the first one, don't go and see this as there's even less of a movie here. How you're meant to have sympathy for morons who can't be bothered to weigh anchor or put a ladder down when you go for a swim, is beyond me. I want an hour and a half of my life back!

I still really fancy watching Adrift, I didn't enjoy open Water, it was terrible. I don't think they'll ever be a shark film like Jaws though imo. Jaws is one of my favourite films of all time. :D

That for me is key! Its entirely their fault for being idiotic that they're stranded, so why should I care? At least with Open Water it was an accident/complete and utter incompetence on the part of the diving company... so you feel for the pair stranded.

I actually thought Open Water was *brilliant*. Not to give away the ending, but I loved it. It was so different to the usual Hollywood rubbish where everything is all tied up neatly, no matter how tenuously.

Some films you shouldn't take too seriously.

I also enjoyed "Open water". I just couldn't get the feeling of being in that situation out of my head. Like what would you do? What could you do? It is a scary situation to be in bobbing in the ocean, no one or land insight sun beaming down on you, dehydration with nothing but salt water and of course sharks!

I have just got back from watching Adrift and find it one of the lamest films around. I don't quite understand why that was commisioned to go on at the pictures. I understand that someone has a genuine fear of water but i think all of that was ruined by some excentric money grabber that did nothing but scream and cry. Then there was a stabbing all because he didn't want the boat to be messed up. Which infact was his bosses boat that he nicked. In my opinion 3/10
