Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Text Problem!?

Okay. i've had photoshop for a while now. it's been working just fine and all that. but oddly. something has gone wrong and i need help. when i edit a picture and then i go to put text on that picture everything freezes up!! and more or less kicks me out of photoshop! i've tired over and over to figure out what to do. i've even deleted it and then reinstalled it!! twice!!! but it's still freezing up when i click on the text....please help
