Adobe Flash Player installation keeps failing on Mac?

Whenever I try to install flash player on my mac it gets to around 6% and then it says it failed to install does anyone know what could be wrong?

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I'm using the admin account
I don't have any previous versions of adobe flash installed
i'm using the Safari web browser
