Address Book Question

I just bought a Pantech Matrix. The Address Book lists names, but doesn't indicate whether the listing is for a cell phone or land line. My old phone (3 year old LG) allowed me to place an icon beside the name like this:
John Doe (cell icon)
John Doe (land line icon)
John Doe (office icon)

Matrix does it like this:
John Doe:
Cell - 901-555-555
Land Line - 901-444-4444
Office - 901-333-3333

With the Matrix, I have to click on the name, then navigate to the number I want to call. I prefer my old phone.

Question - is Matrix's approach common? If I get a LG Xenon, will I face the same problem?
 
I had the pantec matrix for a few short days. Didn't like it. I do have the LG xenon and am quite happy with it. I did realize that loading the address book from scratch allowed you to benefit from all the features. Including the ringtones and photo id. But utilizing information from the sim card was not exactly as expected. It gives you a place for mobile number and two slots for other phone numbers. You can group your contacts (family, friends etc.) and has a couple of shortcuts to access some of your more frequent contacts.

I like this phone better than any other so far. :)
