I was making a fish pie so i started cooking the fish first (prawns, haddok and sole) and I was cooking it in hot milk in a large pan.I then transfered the mixture to a large glass dish ready to top with mashed potatoe and cheese and then add to the hot oven when I noticed the sauce that the fish had been cooking in was abit dry so without thinking I added lots of cold milk straight from the fridge!
I instantly realised that I shouldn't have done that because it will have dropped the temp of everything and that can be dangerous. My husbnad keeps saying its fine because all the fish was already cooked and it went straight back into the hot oven to reheat again but I'm not convinced! When I felt the mixture it was really cool and yes it went on to be heated to boiling again in the oven but still hasn't it gone into the danger zone?
Please does anyone know what the rules are on adding cold or frozen igrediants to cooked, hot food to then cook together?

It's fine, just let it cook a little longer if you're concerned about the temperature of the meat. I've never cooked meat before (I'm vegan) but it's fine to do with any other type of dish. It's kind of like reheating leftovers. As long as it cooks all the way through, you should get the bacteria out.
