I want to buy a new Motorola XT800 Android phone because in addition to CDMA it also supports 2 SIM cards so I could use it all over the world.
Verizon support tells me that if it is not on a Verizon list of phones, it cannot be configured to work on Verizon network.
This seems preposterous as well as illegal to me.
Preposterous because any unlocked GSM phone will work on any GSM provider - why is Verizon different?
Illegal because since the big MaBelle AT&T case that resulted in people buying their own land phones, carriers are not allowed to limit access to their networks by handset makers.
Can someone help me with setting up the XT800 on Verizon or with an address at FCC to lodge a complaint?
