What is the latest cost of an EV package? What I mean is, in there brochure it says the package(I forget the name of it) is $73. Does this mean I will only be paying $73 + tax? Or as Bell is famous for, is the 1 or more 'fees' attached to the bill, which are never mentioned anywhere in the brochure.

The reason I ask is, I am on the old 'Works' package from several years ago. I pay a $5.99 system charge, and a $4.99 additional receiver fee. Last time I compared, my package was still the better deal.

I would like to compare my package to the current ones, but I would like to know all of the hidden charges. Thanks.

I'm getting 6 themes and the HD pack for a total bill of $69. This includes a "digital Service Fee" of $3. That is the only fee and I own my own 2 receivers. I have no additional reciver fee and I've had upwards of 3 active at a time.

I've had this package for a few years now... not sure what the "brand new" offers are.

Just took a look at the current programming package brochure...

It looks like the 3$ digital acces fee is not included in the cost of the package, so your 73$ package will be 73$ for the package + 3$ digital acces fee + tax

The Works was part of the Legacy programming package. Clients that suscribes to those package were being charged (the info here is a year old, it might have increased since) a 5.99$ system acces charge and 4.99$ if they had more than one receiver. Those charges were created by Express Vu when they launched the Genesis programming packages (which were more expensive) to kind of match the price (or at least get it closer) of the 2 programming package and kind of force in clients to migrate to the current platform

On the Genesis programming package there is no extra charge for additionnal receiver

You can also create your own combo...
Important facts to know when you create your combo:
-Themes are 8$ if you have less then 5, so 4 themes (32$) is way more expensive then 5 (5 themes is 20$)
-When you have 5 theme any additional is 5$, not 8$
-Movies are 19$, but if you have more than 6 themes they become 16$. If you have 5 themes and the movies agents will often offer a theme for 2$ extra (the theme cost in fact 5$, but it reduces the cost of your movies by 3$)

Your "The Works" package contains far more channels than you will get for the $73 package!!! Do a channel by channel comparison and make sure you add Super & Movie Channel to the list. You are saving a LOT of money on the old package, even with your "extra" fees!!!

Just call up a CSR and ask them for a price to get a "package" with ALL the channels you have now and you will be over $100.

The Bell web site has a utility where you can go through and pick a the base package, then add the various options. It will give you the total price at the end.

You can get the digital standard (32$) + 11 themes (40$) for 72$ (unless i'm not calculating well)

The Works was definetly a great package, it uncluded almost every popular channel EV carries
I agree with you that in most case it comes more expensive for a client that have The Works to go on the current programming packages
In your calculation you have to also consider that on top of the programming charge you have a system charge of 5.99$ that you will no longer have on the current platform and a multiple receiver charge of 4.99$ that would also be dropped once you have the current package

Yes, you get Digital Standard AND 11 Themes for $72. "The Works" is $71 including the regular channels, the "Movie Channels AND the Super Channels". This is STILL lower than the Digital Standard.

If you price out the equivelant (hard to really compare as you will get some additional channels) today's Bell (The Works equivelant package) package costs $104 PLUS taxes and fees!!!

Your response is the typical CSR response! "...you will SAVE as you no longer pay those ADDITIONAL FEES!!!". Yes, you no longer pay the additional fees, BUT YOU PAY LESS MONEY ($30+ dollars PER MONTH) on the old package EVEN PAYING FEES!!!!!

71$ + 5.99$ OF SYSTEM ACCESS CHARGE + 4.99$ MULTIPLE RECEIVER CHARGE=81.98$
I doubt that Super channels are included in the Works... Most channels added recently to BEV programming can not be added to Legacy package. Since EV wants to "migrate" all their Legacy clients to the current platform I doubt that they added some channels for the same price. Unless of course you refer to Superstation (294 PEACH-296 WSBK-297 CW11-298 KTLA) which were always part of the movie package

It really depends on which themes you had as part of your The Works package...for some it could become cheaper, for some other it becomes more expensive

I'm not longer a CSR

I only added that to the comment as a reminder... Often clients would call in and I would offer then a pacakge that cost 80$ when they had a 72$ package. They will refuse saying it is more expensive, but in fact 80$ was cheaper than their 72$ The Work package + acces fee + multiple receiver charge

Those legacy themes are so much better...

You can tell they broke them up just so that the more popular channels in the same genre are in separate themes, hence forcing customers to order more themes than they would have before.

With those themes, I would only need 4 themes to get all the channels I want, I just signed up with BEV and I needed to get 6 themes to get the same channels...ugh.

On the current platform 4 themes is actually more expensive than 6... 4X8$ (32$) for the themes when 6 cost you (20$ for 5 + 5$ for the 6th) 25$

Ya, I know, hence why I just added another theme that I will likely never watch...

The TOTAL including fees and taxes for The Works is just over $71. So you are incorrect in the price.

The Works includes the Movie Channel & Super Channel packages (because if you had Movie Channel MC1, MC2 etc Bev gave those the new SuperChannel movie package). I have The Works. (how else did I know the price as of YESTERDAY's BILL and the package content?). You obviously do not have the package and no way to look and see what is in the package, whereas I have and I get a monthly bill that shows:

System Charge $5.99
Additional Receiver $2.99
The Works $62.45
Sub Total $71.43

I currently have SEVEN receivers (grandfathered on the eight max). Again, as a 10 plus year customer I have retained my package and all the brochures and customer agreements.

You may have been a CSR, but you don't know "The Works" packaging, or the "price" for it, otherwise you would not have made the above errors.

$71 and change TOTAL bill is a LOT less than your figures...

If that's the case then i'll go back to my pervious comment :

Bell is stupid then... They want to migrate all their clients to the current platform but they start giving them more (Super channel) for the same cost. I never said you were wrong, just said I doubted that you were right due to the fact that Bell wants to migrate clients to new platform. Super channel was introduced AFTER I left EV so I don't know much about the package, i'm just a regular client like everyone else from that point. I was just saying it was not logic for them to do so

I did when I first joined EV... I gave it up when I start working there since I had lots of English channels that I didn't watch and could easily switch to current platform which became cheaper in my case and corresponded more to my needs

I could have searched for a Legacy programming brochure, but didn't take the time to do so

I have been a CSR, and one of the best according to my collegues. I do know the Works package even if it was considered outdated when I worked there. I have not worked at EV since last September, neither seen a Legacy programming brochure. I have a life 2 kids and way more important things to remember, so it is possible that I made a mistake. No, I do not remember the price of the package... So? Does that mean I wasn't doing my job properly? Nope... It only mean I do not remeber the price since it's been so long and I assumed, when was talking about 72$ that it was only the programming charge, not the programming charges + additionnal receiver + service acces fee. If he would have broke it down like you did my answer would have been different.

When client with the Works were calling we were usually suggesting that they take Digital Standard (31$ back then now 32$ for new clients) + 6 themes (25$) + movies (16$), for a total of 72$
The Works, if I rember well had 7 themes...
One of that theme was networks (ABC-FOX-PBS-CBS-NBC) which are now part of the Digital Standard, therefore elimating the need for a seventh theme
In some case the channels were divided into 9-10 different themes... In those case we were asking for example in they watch this, or that channel to figure out if one or more channels could be eliminated

Nice backpeddling. $72 PLUS MC & SUPER Channel is OVER $100

The truth is that it is still cheaper to hold The Works with MC & Super than it is to get the same channels under Digital Standard plus themes plus MC plus Super.

You can also now add on channels to The Works without losing your package...

So for $71 and change it is a great deal for most people that still have it...which was the OP's inquiry

Enough with the cheap shots. Keep the posts strictly to the topic, not nit-picking each other.

If the OP wants to find out what is current in each package and what the cost is, then there is a tool for that purpose on the Bell site. End of discussion.

There is a tool, but not one that allows a comparison of the Legacy Packages, which was the OP's current setup.

The discussion regarding pricing and contents of the Legacy versus Current package is, in my humble opinion, quite relevant. A lot of us Legacy people like to know the real truth as opposed to the Bell CSR's comments "...I can save you paying those extra fees!!!" which do not tell the full story.

If I am out of line on this one, my apologies, but I too keep looking at my The Works package and comparing it to the current ones to ensure I am getting the best "bang for my buck."

Comparing new and old packages is a legimate topic and those conversations can continue. All posters are reminded to drop the unnecessary "trash talk" comments though.

The answer to the subject posted "Actual cost of BEV packages?" is covered on the Bev web site along with the current package breakdown of channels and the info does not need to be repeated.... mainly because it is subject to change and there isn't any point in duplicating it here.
