Activating a prepaid phone on existing monthly plan?

My question is along these lines so please bear with me...

I have a verizon wireless monthly contract and I have damaged my phone. I had insurance on the phone but but the damage is not covered (Cracked LCD Front Screen - NO DISPLAY). I was told the only way I could have the phone replaced would be to submerge it in water or break it in half and totally destroy the phone. Even so I would have to pay a $50 deductable and get a down graded phone of lesser value and function (I have the LG EnV2). Needless to say I told them I would deal with my phone the way it is.

My question, If I go to target and get the Verizon Wireless Inpulse Samsung U340 Pay-As-You-Go Cell Phone - U340 for $29.99, is there a MEID Number under the back panel that I can use to activate this phone on my current monthly plan instead of my LG EnV2?

Can I do this withput activating the Go Phone first or would I have to buy a prepaid card and activate it?

Thank-you

Really? They're not covering a cracked screen? I have Asurian and recently got a cracked screen replaced. (voyager)

I would go find a similar or same phone on ebay. I doesn't sound like you need an expensive phone.

Thanks John,

and NO I do not need an expensive phone as I am a cop and I break phones, pagers and watches on a monthly basis.

So cheap but functional is my game.

But my question is still not answered.....

Can I add a Verison Go Phone to my monthly contract online by entering the MEID number and selecting change phone option?

I would be grateful for any help.

Your damage to the enV2 is covered by Asurion insurance. Yes, it will be a $50 deductible...

You would also receive the same phone back or one of equal or greater value. Generally, if they don't have your phone available, they send you a similar one with a postcard that says we'll notify you when your phone becomes available. Then they'll tell you that you can also contact them to find out if one has become available. Then you receive your new phone and mail your temporary insurance replacement back.

The MEID on a prepay phone has a number that ends in PP which signifies prepaid. There is a 50/50 chance that the phone will work on a contract plan. It isn't something that the system is necessarily set up to recognize. So, it depends on the phone and it depends on the agent entering the information.

I recommend contacting Verizon Wireless at 1-800-922-0204 to see what all of the options are. Flat out say you need a phone. Ask what they'll do for you. Or contact Asurion directly.
