"action failed due to network problems" - Nokia Software Updater v1.1.40en

Hey, whenever I load Nokia Software Updater v1.1.40en, it brings the splash screen that says starting application, then i get the error message pop up that says "action failed due to network problems", then i click okay, and the program closes. This is my first time using Nokia Software Updater, and I am trying to update my Nokia N80. Any ideas on how to fix this? I heard many things from ports, to reinstalling, to restarting computer, a lot of stuff, but no definite solution. I also have no other Nokia software installed, and I am using Windows XP Pro. Please help, thank you.
 
check your firewall, make sure it allows it to connect and not blocking it.
Also check other antivrius software or internet safetry programs from notron.
you'll have to disable them, but after that do enable them back.
 
Anyone know which ports should be opened for nokia software updater to work? or any other possible reasons why i am getting this error message? i am indeed behind a firewall which cannot be turned off tho, so how do i work around this to open the ports? which ports?
