Acquiring network address error?

Ok I have windows xp and I recently ran into a problem with a virus.I live in a dormitory and gain access to the internet through an ethernet cable. I ran spybot and super antispyware free edition..they both found some malware or whatever and I deleted them accordingly. Now after doing that I can't connect to the internet at all...it just stays stuck on acquiring network address. I ran system restore and when I did that it didnt have acquirng network address however as stated I couldn't get on the internet because of a virus. Can somebody help me figure this out thanks
