I've become big on working out and running over the past year. I've gotten into the best shape of my life, gained confidence, and feel great.... One problem, now my skin is getting worse! I sweat a lot during my workouts and I get acne mostly around my hairline, where I sweat a lot. I don't really use any hair products, which I know can often cause this. I shower right after I work out to get the sweat off and I only wear mineral makeup. Even if I remove my makeup completely, I still break out from this.

Do any of you have any tips on how to prevent the breakouts? They are more of the painful larger pimples that start deep under the skin. I do get some blocked pores elsewhere but they aren't as bad and are more like whiteheaRAB or small pimples and go away quickly. Some of these larger ones just hurt my face! I currently use Neutrogena Stress Control Acne products.

Hmmm.. now that you mention this, I'm wondering if I'm having the same problem too. I have been getting acne on my forehead as well, and I've been going to the gym 5 days a week for 7 weeks now. However, I have a problem with picking too... so that makes the problem even worse. I'm wondering what other people think as well.
Also, I used the stress lotion of those products before, and they made my acne worse too. However, that's just me...most things make my acne worse..

Thanks for your reply! It sounRAB like we both may be having the same problem. The Neutrogena stress control products actually do HELP me, but they aren't curing the problem. I actually think I was getting stress acne as well... random large pimple on my cheek, or somewhere I normally do not break out. Those have been going away, but it's the hairline ones, where sweat sits around. I'm currently trying out Neutrogena's line that is similar to Proactiv and so far it my skin has slightly improved. I like that it has a daytime lotion with SPF 15 that keeps my skin soft, without making it break out. The nighttime lotion seems to help clear up acne. The face wash is good because it gently exfoliates, which I really need, because my skin gets a lot of dead skin cells that neeRAB to come off around my nose and forehead. My kit came with a free rapid clearing acne spot gel, which seems to be decent so far.

I also have a picking problem! I find that if I gently squeeze pores that are just a little blocked, yet not a pimple or anything, it prevents one from forming. I'd definitely stop if I could find a product to prevent the blocked pores in the first place!

Let me know if you find anything else out... Most times I usually don't use a small towel while working out, but maybe it would be good to get into this habit to see if wiping off the sweat every few minutes would help.

Hm, well I just decided to do a quick search, and it looks like it doesn't actually have to do with sweat, or if it does, the web site didn't mention it. It was a little bit technical in its explanation, but it said the acne is caused by lymph fluid and an excess production of oil that occurs during excercise. It then said that this is a reason why people of any age, who are excercising, who have never really had acne, tend to have it.
Who knows?!?
Also, a friend of mine was using that nutrogena system too and she said she liked it as well. I've been thinking about it, but after trying proactive, acne free, and another similar product i found online, I'm a little bit nervous. Have you ever tried any other systems before the nutrogena?
