Hi PD,

Like dcguy said, we all tend to think we have cancer or heart problems! So don't worry and you'll be fine!

I am going for my second esophagus dilation/endoscopy results tomorrow.

I had my first endoscopy in March. I was diagnosed with moderate acid reflux, inflammation and a couple of stomach ulcers. I was negative for H-pylori bacteria. I'm one of those "we don't know what caused your ulcers" people. I do believe they were stress related. I know 'they' say stress can't cause ulcers only exacerbate them but I think differently. I was on Zegerid 40mg daily.

I had a follow up endoscopy July 6th . The doctor told my husband the ulcers were gone and all looked great.

I'm now on Pepcid Complete 40mg AM and 20mg PM (doctor told my hubby this is for prevention). Tomorrow I go for a followup office visit.

BTW, you won't know a thing during the scope. It'll be all over and you'll wake and wonder when they will start!

I had a very minor sore throat for a couple of days. It didn't bother me enough to take anything and I ate without any problem.

I will be praying for you. You'll be just fine!

Please keep us posted.

Blessings, Annie

thank you for sharing annie, I will definitely let you know how this turns out tomorrow. I wish you luck with your follow up as well tomorrow ;)

well, I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy, everything normal. I still feel lousy, I get this odd dull ache on my left upper back and upper left quadrant along with burning sensation in esophagus. When I eat normal food such as chicken, salad, mashed potatoes, etc I end up with gas, smelly gas and it feels hot coming out my bottom. Still no diagnosis....i am going for a second opinion in three weeks. Anyone else with similar symptoms and a diagnosis. Help......

Hi Lala:

Sorry to hear about your discomfort and symptoms. My suggestion would be to start with your family doctor or internist. They may run some blood tests first and check on certain things and then send you to the right specialist. You could have anything from esophageal spasms to anxiety and several other options in between. Best to have it checked. Hope you feel better very soon. Rose

Purity Dee I have been following your progress with acid reflux as my symptoms are similar and came on suddenly like yours. I have been on treatment for 8 weeks with very little change, losing weight with bland diet and very down about the whole thing. I am sure the stress and crying is causing more harm than good but I can't help it...you just worry, worry worry!Just wondering are you getting any better? Are you able to eat anything but bland? Wondering if you are seeing light at the end of the tunnel?

Hey I don't know if anyone mentioned this. I tried to read everything but may have missed it. I had never had heartburn in my life, then about a year after my youngest was born, 5 years ago. I started having chest pain and didn't really know what it was except that everyone said it sounded like heartburn. Well it progressively got worse...anyway you don't need to hear a long story. Point is after 4 years and going in to 5 or 6 different doctor's including the emergency room a couple of months ago. Last Tuesday I went to a doctor with chest pain, and had my gall bladder taken out on Wednesday. In 5 years I think gall bladder was only mentioned in passing maybe once and I just felt like an idiot because it kept hurting I couldn't figure out what fooRAB, if any were causing the pain, so I didn't eat them, and then was a very sick lady when I got to the hospital and was in so much pain I wanted to die. Sorry....tarabling ;) My point is if you haven't had any of this checked you might want to have your doc do that next. I have found these symptoms can greatly vary and I can tell you that I had more than one episode of laying in a ball and crying I was hurting so bad. The great doctor that sent me to the hospital told me that if you are in enough pain to make you cry that is NOT normal and you should have it checked out....so don't give up and don't let the doctor's give trying to gind out what is causing you pain, and I hope that you will get relief before I did. Much luck!!!!

lala you can still get that with bad reflux heartburn.
have them check your gallbladder. my daughter has this. she has had sphincter muslce not close right, reflux, ibs, gastritis duedonitis and a septated gallbladder. she has a disability so it was hard to get all dx. i hit the medical books. as others have noted try mag related antaciRAB, the proton pump shut down the acid pumps. elevate the head of your bed. i bought wed foam pillow at lifet her bed a tad.
sometime instead of pillows she will use a big wadded up blanket. gives more support than a pillow.

remeraber ti drink plenty of water. beind deyrated can cause pain and acid to act up.

I have had a continuous spasm in my esophagus since the endoscopy, it hurts when I eat because it feels like everything gets knotted up in my chest, horrible. Not sure if this is an unspoken side effect. Aniie, I am fairly young, 34 to be exact. I have had a few mild episodes of acid reflux, very mild since 2004 but this has been the first time it has lasted this long with new symptoms.

I am very happy for you! What have you done to heal your ulcers? ANy special diets? I would love to hear what food you are eating along with the meRAB you have been taking.

Hi everyone, I have been suffering from this burnign sensation in my esophagus since July 2nd of this year, i have a gnawing pain in my upper abdomen, sometimes I feel a mild prickling pain my my left upper quadrant and sometimes on the right upper quadrant, I have mid upper back burning sensation and mild pain with the burning sensation in my esophagus, I sometimes get nauseated and a few times have had very loose stools, no vomiting and no bloody stools. I also feel mild esophageal spasms, very few. I am terrified it may be something worse than acid reflux, like cancer. Anyone else have same symptoms and what were you diagnosed with? I would appreciate input, I have an endoscopy next tuesday, so scared.:dizzy:

Yes, similar symptoms, no hiatal hernia was found in my endoscopy or irriation? COnfused as to diagnosis.

have you had your gallbladder examined via ultrasound or a HIDA scan such as I am having wednesday? It is worth looking into.

My abdominal ultrasound was normal, my endoscopy according to my doctor is normal, he did biopsy a few areas (esophagus, stomach and small intestine) waiting for results but he said everything looks fine. So what gives? I was expecting some irritation in my esophagus due to all the burning sensation I have been experincing but he said he found nothing, which I am extremely relieved but makes me wonder why I would have all these symptoms with no endoscopic evidence? Im now taking Carafate 100mg, Nexium 40mg and Zantac OTC, I tried Xanax yesterday to relieve the esophageal spasms that I was having which may have been caused by the sndoscopic tube since I was not really experincing it to that degree....it didnt help much so my doc suggessted peppermint oil, also didnt help much!I want to be okay but I would also like an answer to my symoptoms, I guess I just need to wait for results at this point

my daughter has this badly. many test later she has multiple gi issues. a sphinceter in her tummy not working right. had to play with the meRAB elevate her bed. make eating habit changes and she is doing a lot better. drink water and avoid acidic drinks hpoe the test went well.

Well, I was feeling fabulous and decided to have a handful of fritos with my turkey breast sandwich, which i have been eating for days, minus the fritos, 30 minutes later it caused a mild burning sensation in my esophagus and back of throat with mild esophageal spasms! I was disappointed! Im tired of eating the same bland fooRAB for almost a month now! Will this ever go away or am I stuck with this boring bland diet for the rest of my life???? Endoscopy and biopsies negative, HIDA scan this wednesday! What to do now? Do any of you have this same or similar problem? I went from being able to eat everything and anything on any given day, this was all taken away from me the begininning of this month. I joke with my BF and say its my stomach punishing me and retaliating for all the years of over indulgence :dizzy:

It might just be a food allergy/sensitivity. Start doing elimination diets. Start with no dairy for 2 weeks and see how you feel. Then after that, no gluten (wheat, barley or rye), etc...

I have a hiatal hernia and gastritis. Celiac Disease blood panel was negative but I responded positively to a gluten free diet anyway. I would start with going gluten free and see what happens. It's a pain in the butt and very hard if you are a foodie like me and love pizza and pasta but there are a lot of other great fooRAB out there...go to Whole FooRAB for gluten free bread. You can still eat rice and potatoes on gluten free diet which is a big plus:)

Hope it helps.

Always stay positive. You have nothing to worry about. You may need to watch what you eat, im not sure your age but when you get older, sometimes our bodies can't handle some of the fooRAB we use to eat when we were teenagers. In this type of situation monitor what you eat, try and write down the fooRAB that make you feel this way, that way you know the leave those alone. When you experience heartburn or acid reflux, the position you lay in could make symptoms worse, for instance, never lay flat on your back when you have heartburn.

you may have developed asthma related to the refulx. my daughter did. go see an ent or pulmo. start with a pulmo tell him about you issues and take it from there. i just spent the last year getting heart, kidney and then woke up paralyzed in apr. i know how you feel it can get better. whittle them down. hang in there. if you have not been to a gastro go there first.
