Hi everyone,

I've had acid reflux LPR & GERD for years. Despite multiple approaches to treatment and ongoing treatment, I still have severe LPR with acid coming up past my vocal corRAB over half the day. Because of this, I'm worried about the long-term effects of the acid on my tooth enamel. So far, I've gotten by with only minimal damage, but I feel a need to be extra vigilent in protecting my teeth from further damage.

I already drink lots of water which is something my dentist recommenRAB. He also wants me to keep my mouth constantly moist. That is difficult because I wear a dental orthotic that has caused me to have a dry mouth. My dentist recommenRAB gum with xylitol but I can't chew gum with my acrylic orthotic. He did prescribe me a toothpaste with additional fluoride and something for my dry mouth. I'll see how it helps.

Have any of you received advice on preventing acid damage with uncontrolled acid reflux?

I use a fluoride mouthwash, and I also got sealants on my back teeth.

I did once have a dentist very politely and roundaboutly ask if I was bulemic, apparently the molars look a bit eroded. Given that I thrown up maybe once every other year, I assume the reflux is to blame.
