Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone could have any suggestions on what may be causing my pain on the left side of the chest.

It started a week ago when I was abit stressed out waiting for the results of my partners test results (which came up all clear in the end)

I exercise regulary , i run 7 to 14 miles a week ,non smoker, although my diet is not great, just a tad over my recommended weight.

The pain is very sporadic mainly on the left side of my chest but I cannot pinpoint it by pressing anything, is can stretch to under my armpit, even to my neck and back, and under the breast, in between my chest.
I went to the doctors and they checked my resting heart rate which was under 60bpm, also check my breathing....fine.

He said it may be a muscle tear, but surely that would hurt if I pressed the "torn" area

kinda running out of ideas, so i was wondering if anyone has any indication to what this may be please/

cheers

The only thing I can think of is what I was diagnosed with, with these same symptoms. There is a muscle like covering around your ribcage, and this can get strained or pulled, and caused pain. My pain was in my lower chest, went around under my arm, and shot up to my neck when I bent over. It was called costchondritis and the treatment was damp heat ( laying in the tub helped ) and ibuprophen. If you feel your rib cage where you get the pains, and feel tender areas here and there when pressed, that is most likely it.

Hello, many thanks, went to the doctors again and he said virtually the same, the pain has now stretched or moved to my left shoulder, it is now easing off and so has my worry !!

Oh good! I am glad you found out that is what it is. Just so you know, this can come on after doing strenuous work with your arms, such as shoveling, lifting items etc. Mine came on in the dead of winter after I had shoveled. I went to the ER, I thought it was my heart lol! Would you believe there were 3 other patients in there at the same time with the exact same problem???!!! Even the nurses and doctors were shocked. Anyway, mine came back one time and I didn't go back to the doc because I knew what it was. But the damp heat and any anti-inflammatory meds help with it. I am glad you got an answer.
