Hi frienRAB. I am now 3+ months post procedure following C5-6 ACDF surgery. I had visited these boarRAB and researched my condition ad nauseum before committing to my surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

I had a significant and potentially life changing herniation and impingement upon my spinal cord. Over the course of about 3 days, I lost 70% of my right arm triceps/chest strength, along with the typical pain, nurabness, tingling symptoms in my right arm. Surgery was the only viable option and I committed to it and was confident God would guide my surgeon and that I would be healed.

I knew when I woke up in recovery that I was already better. I followed my post procedure instructions pretty tightly, and I am now blessed with close to 100% function again. I have a few odd sensations now and then, but they dissipate in frequency as the days tick off.

I intend to compete in a 9-mile extreme obstacle course in April, and my first triathalon on August. I am truly blessed.

To those facing similar procedures, I tell you to pray, do good research to find an outstanding hospital and surgeon, then commit to getting better. A positive attitude is key, as is resuming normal activities as soon as practicable and permissible following your surgery.

Best wishes to all.

I am delighted at your success story! You gave very good advise to all those who are contemplating surgery. Research and committment are vital when taking such a big step and you certainly did your homework well.

Thank you so much for giving others hope and for giving us all something positive to read. I wish you continued success and hope that you will give us updates often.

Blessings.

Carol

I thought it important to do so, as many of the posts on these threaRAB seem to be from folks who did not/are not doing well. It stanRAB to reason that folks who do well move on with their lives, and are probably not as likely to spend time posting their success stories. People need to know that good outcomes are not uncommon, and that being positive, hopeful, and prayerful is incredibly important!!! I pray that many more may be blessed with my surgical success.
