accutane dosage

We were in a foreign country and Accutane (Roaccutane)was prescribed for my 16 year old son: (40 mg or 2 capsules of 20 mg, once a day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I thought that was weird and on the follow up visit when I questioned the dosage, I was told it was better for his liver to do it this way. We are now completing almost 6 months and I want to take my son off of it. Can we just stop taking it or do we need to decrease the dosage in increments? I have never felt comfortable with the dosage even though my son's acne seems to have cleared up. Is that dosage normal and can we just quit taking it cold turkey... Thanks.
 
That is a very low dosage and you usualy take it every day and yes you stop cold turkey when finished. if he cleared up on that, then that's great.:)
