accidently crashed into parked car. fender fixing?

i woke up one morning and had to go buy something at publix. i unknowingly crashed into a parked car, i figured i hit the curb as i was parking in, so i just backed up and parked into a different spot. later on that morning a police officer showed up at my house and asked me about it. i had no idea that i caused any damage but there was clear proof on my car of the crash. i did not recieve a ticket. however i have a court date. the officer said there was nothing illegal in contacting the person and asking if we could settle this without contacting my insurance. which would be awesome because with the economy i CANNOT afford my insurance to go up. i have a court date in a couple weeks. does anyone know the range of how much it will be to fix the lady's fendor and get it repainted? or any suggestions of what i should do in this situation?
 
If you plan to let a shop do it for you, be prepared to shell out around a grand.
Otherwise you could go to a junkyard and get a bumper of the same color and fix it yourself.
 
there is no way to accurately answer that question without knowing the make, model, and year of the car. plus every body shop charges different prices. chances are you might be looking at around $1000 if its a relatively cheap car.
