My 1989 Toyota Camry's A/C isn't working right and my boyfriend's uncle (A/C expert) is helping us fix it. He says that it's not working because the evaporator valve may be clogged. We need to access the evaporator valve, but there's a case blocking it. We've unscrewed all the bolts and removed the necessary wires and tubes preventing the taking off of the case. Fortunately, we have a Toyota manual from the manufacturer and it says there are 4 clips holding the evaporator housing on, but we only found two. We only need to take the bottom part of the case off, but we are having issues taking it off. We'd like to know what may possibly be holding us back from taking it off that maybe we can't see? There was a screw sticking out through the case, but we got the cover over that. Do you know how to easily take this housing off? It seems like an easy fix from what I've been able to find online, but in reality it's been terribly hard to remove.
I am not going to sell the car. It runs great and has low mileage.
I live in South Texas, please help!
