Hi HealtrabroadoarRAB, I was just wondering if your on birth control, which I am on LoSeasonique, if having acid reflux would effect the absorption of the pill? I was told I had it like 2 years ago, but that was when I still drank cokes & ate bad stuff. Now, however, I don't anymore so I don't know if I still have it? I'm pretty sure though cause usually I wake up with a sore throat every morning, or more like a burning throat. I always burp, & its pretty discusting...do you have any answers??

Acid reflux should not affect the absorption of your birth control medication because you still have plenty of acid in the stomach to aid with absorption. However, if you take acid reducing medication, particularly a PPI, that medication could interfere with the absorption of certain nutrients and medications because a PPI suppresses stomach acid production which is needed for the absorption of what goes into your tummy. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, makes a lot of sense! I use to take nexium but I got off of it when I started this brand of birth control. Thank you! :)

Reflux just means your stomach is producing more acid and/or that acid is getting back up into your esophagus due to an incompetent lower esophageal sphincter. I don't think it should interfere with your birth control medication.
