I have a 2003 Ford Escape. Yesterday I reached 100,000 miles. Two months ago I had new brakes (and rotors) put on and last month I had new tires put on. Three days ago, my ABS light came on one minute after I started (and drove) my car. Yesterday when I started my car, something under the hood was making a tick-tick-tick noise (it sounded like a clock) and it was hard to push on my brakes. I stopped my car and let it sit for a few seconds and then the ticking stopped and my brakes felt normal. The ABS light comes on about one minute after I start (and drive) my car. I was told it could be my timing belt. I'm a broke college student, so I don't want to take it to a mechanic and get ripped off.
