Hi All,

I was thinking that maybe we could have a sticky thread with all the abrev's and explanations of codes that are commonly used within the forum abot cell phones.

I've got no idea what most of them are so If the well educated persons in this field could enlighten us all, I believe that this would be of great assistance to all that visit the forum that aren't aware of them.

Alright here I'll get you started:

n00b (see newb or newbie): one who lacks any knowledge. Usually, but not exclusively, applied to people new to that respective forum.

lol: Laugh Out Loud (or Laughing Out Loud) Used to express amusement at others posts.

...hhhmmm ya that's abot it.

I googled a link with a lot of definitions for things like GSM, CDMA, TDMA, IDEN, SIM, GPRS, and so on and so on. The sad thing is I had already come up with my own definitions for several before I googled one and found the one-stop answer for all of them! :-p

Simplewire : Glossary

Here are two I didn't see on that site which we use a lot here in the forums...

ETF - Early Termination Fee

CS - Customer Service

That's all I can think of for now, but for future reference, if it's not in the dictionary, you can find a definition for practically anything with google. I always just type the word or acronym I'm looking for followed by the word 'definition' and there ya go. :D

I got more here if you wanna use the text feature of your mobile phone:

btw---by the way
f--if
s---is
gudnyt---good night

I usually rely on my intuition in understanding abrevs....we don't really need a definite list of those abrevs
