About the t mobile monthly fee for a phone u want?

Ok i know if u want a phone u can pay monthly for it. Like 26 dollars per month or w.e. But i was wondering if u can make a down payment. Like say the phone is 500 dollars can u put down 300 and then pay off the rest monthly ??
