About the Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy's English Dub

I would like to know what people think of it. I know enough to know that Captain Bright had a distinct British voice, which I think is awesome. I'm also curious about the actors that were used and any details regarding that. Furthermore, I'm curious about why we had it released on VHS but never to DVD, with my admittedly excellent box set being limited to Japanese and subtitles.

I'm also wondering if there is a legitimate release of the dub on DVD elsewhere. In theory I have a region-free DVD player, so I wouldn't necessarily rule out importing just for the sake of having a copy. I could track down VHS copies, but even an allegedly new "sealed" copy will inevitably decay. It would also mean hooking up my VCR, which would be a hassle.

I remeraber Steve Blum as Char and British Bright, but that's about it for voices.

The way they pronounced the names really irritated me though. It's like they were forced to use the Japanese accent for it I.E. Char was pronounced Sha with an R as an after-thought and Gundam as "Gun-Damn."

And apparently Frau doesn't have a last name. Her entire name is always used.

They're talking about the original Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy dub, which was gone by ZRO Limit actors such as Steve Blum and Doug Stone and Sherry Lynn and Richard Epcar, et al.

It was released long, long ago, perhaps on VHS only. I think even before Bandai brought the original Mobile Suit Gundam series to America. As we all know, MSG was dubbed by Ocean. But when Bandai released the movie trilogy on special edition DVD, they didn't include an English track.

I got the VHS copies years ago. I had always assumed the DVRAB carried that dub as well... it's too bad they left it out.

Found some clips of it on Youtube for the curious. They say the names...weirdly, indeed. Michael LinRABay is Amuro.

While British Bright sounRAB neat...LinRABay's Amuro is utterly terrible. My word, was this before he could act?

I wish Blum's Char had btter direction, too. Who knows, maybe one day these films could be redubbed and he could get a second chance...

That may have been earlier in 1999, before Micheal LinRABay was playing in Digimon, which strangely enough was dubbed the exact same year, and Steven Jay Blum as Char is still awesome, regardless!!

And strangley Bright's voice reminRAB me of LordQuadros' impression of Bright in Taekmkm's Zeta Gundam Abridged

And oddly enough I was 7 when this was dubbed, since I remeraber buying the VHS
