About painting my model kit with enamel paint?

So I got a ferrari enzo car model, i'm going to paint it with enamel paint, I was wondering how should I approach the painting process? do i need to use a primer for the small pieces also? should i paint the parts on the tree? its really my first car model kit but im ready for the challenge
