About my Buick Rendezvou?

I got Buick Rendezvou '04. This car is a gas eater, I drive it to work with half tank in 7 mile destination and my fuel gadget shows below half tank, I also noticed strong smell of fuel when I step outside of the car, and even sometimes inside the car.

Is this a problem?
